The restaurant sits atop a hill overlooking a lake and the main dining room offers stunning views all the way across Trondheim Fjord. Lunch is a buffet. Somehow food always seems to lose its edge when served this way, likely this is no exception. The food was quite good but nothing outstanding while it was obvious that ingredients were fresh. There were several salads, types of meats, potatoes, breads, sauces, etc… I found the vafler to be dry and a bit hard, probably from sitting too long. They were hyped as the best in the world but I have had many that were better. These were a thicker vafler than I have been used to in Norway and I much prefer the thinner with a moist center and crisp edge. The coffee was quite good and they had a nice dry cider.
The buffet could use signs so that you know what the dishes are.
Overall, it was enjoyable but a bit high-priced for the quality of the food. Perhaps you are also paying for that awesome view.
