Bread with olive oil from their own groves is served prior to the meal. The bread was quite dense and very crusty; it made a great sponge for the beautiful fruity olive oil. Both of us chose to have the flat iron steak. The perfectly cooked meat was very tender and had a deep beef flavor. It was accompanied by sautéed sweet corn, green onion and red bell peppers; I really liked the corn but could have done without the green onion. There was also a herb pesto that did not add anything to the dish. A side of luscious potatoes that had been roasted in duck fat also came with the meal. We both really enjoyed the meat. For dessert, J chose the 3 ice cold beers; a trio of beer based sorbets. J loved his desert and he said this is his equivalent of our favorite Thai dessert (sweet sticky rice with coconut custard) for here. I had a take on a trifle, rhubarb compote, topped with crème anglaise, then topped with a spiced crumble. The dessert was very nice and I appreciate all of the opportunities for rhubarb that I get here.
Fantastic beer selection for J; no cider for me but a very nice New Zealand pinot noir. The coffee was unremarkable.
The service was friendly and attentive. A very enjoyable experience.
