A bread service was brought after our drink orders. This was a trio of breads, blue and yellow corn muffin, fruit nut bread, and a country style bread, The muffins were interesting in that the blue was one side of the muffin and the yellow the other but I did not care for this one. I liked the country style bread but did not try the other.
Once again, I selected tomato soup to start. This was excellent; a rich tomato base garnished with corn, white cheddar, avocado, and crispy strips of blue corn tortilla. J started with a tiger shrimp blue corn tamale which was very tasty, nicely sauced, and a very nice texture not chunky, very smooth. My main course was the blue corn pancake. The pancake was a nice blend of flour and blue corn so that it was smooth, not grainy, yet allowed the taste of the blue corn to shine. The pancake was topped with beautifully barbecued duck in a habanero five-spice sauce. J selected lobster tacos; three excellent little blue corn pockets of lobster topped with tomatillo, avocado, pickled red onion, and fennel relish.
The pisco sours here were quite good too. Service was a little slow.
Sounds like an interesting place. Good review and I’ll be sure to cycle over and check it out!!
Just making sure that you noted this one is Las Vegas; might be a long ride.
Haha I didnt notice that and there is a place in Mesa, AZ called the Mesa Grille. My bad. Yea, the quads may be a little sore after a jaunt to Vegas. It’d be worth it though!!
