We landed here on a Sunday evening, the pub was not overly crowded, nor was it bare. The decor is very basic pub but the menu is slightly upscale.
We began with the hummus and crudité board. The hummus was much thicker than we are used to and not super smooth but had excellent flavor; a bit garlicky but not too much. Vegetables were very fresh and tasty although a bit unevenly cut; that is, some were quite thin and others were a bit too chunky. The pita was actually crisped but still an adequate version of it.
Moving on, J selected the lobster meatballs. He reported they were dry and the pasta also looked quite dry even though the penne had a cognac tomato cream. Spears of asparagus were laid on the top but I did not see any evidence of the crispy artichoke leaves. J said the flavors were pretty good but overall the dish was too dry. I went with a special, braised short rib served over spaetzle. The short rib was very difficult to cut from the bone and from the fat; there was virtually no meat but a whole lot of fat. The spaetzle were okay but had been fried so that some parts were crispy. The sauce was too salty. Overall, this dish was a flop.
I would prefer not to return.
